One man's 'Daily Photo Project'
December 17, 2002 10:26 PM   Subscribe

This guy takes a picture of himself every day. A guy takes a picture of himself every day and puts it online in a large montage. A moustache, braces, and mullet all creep in during the proceeds, only for him to now look much like he did when he started. (Found on design portal, NewsToday)

I'd really like to send the poor guy a comb.

Cool idea! The pictures go from oldest to newest, which makes me wonder why in the heck has he started to go without a shirt more frequently in December?!

cool ... You can scroll it and get a trippy animation effect.

Someone give him 25 cents to comb his hair.

The 20020623 pic (it's on the far left of a row) looks like Tom Cruise in his Magnolia role.

Wow. I've wondered from time to time if I end up wearing pieces of clothing from my limited wardrobe in any semi-regular pattern. Guess this would be one way of finding out...

Actually, this link has made it onto metafilter at least once - not that the post verification page or even a cursory search through the site would have told you (I tried both, to no avail).

Interesting link, anyway.

<pedant> Every link on MetaFilter has made it on to MetaFilter at least once. </pedant> Sorry! ;-)

That said, some similar things have cropped up, I was going to link them, but didn't fancy searching. One I recall was the person who drew everything they ate each day on their Palm Pilot and put it online.

very interesting.

He looks like Harrison Ford circa Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back. Something in the eyes. A comb would definitely be a good idea.

I vote against the comb. The messy hair looks good.

does anyone else think the uniformity of his facial expression is just a little......wierd?

Bedhead. Jimmy Falon does it. With the proper hair car products you can achieve the look, too. Or perhaps you'd rather listen and read about it.

wacky:

No need to apologize. I was just giving you a heads up in case it disappeared, as well as pointing out that it wasn't particularly easy to discover that the link had already been posted here.

he seems to grow up - or mauybe just lose a bit of weight - some time in 2000. and looks a lot better for it.

is that always the same orange t-shirt? if so, what washing powder does he use?

i like the messy hair (wish i had enough to do that). wish he'd smile, though.

when was the mullet? are they braces or the tops of "jardineros" (can't remember the english work - dungarees? trousers with straps).

anyone else follow zoyd's hair products link? the look is to simply embrace what comes natural and forget about faking the rest (but buy our products to do it). grrrrr.

hmmm....very self-self-self-indulgent (ooops, the images are hypnotic).

if it serves any purpose at all, he can see himself aging bit by bit. he must be very disciplined to do this everyday regardless of his moods.

Does this remind anyone else of Harvey Keitel in "Smoke" taking a picture of the same corner outside his store every day? At least those pictures were different from day to day.

This is really only interesting in the abstract. Faced wth looking at the same picture every day (sorry about the pun) with little difference except the shirt and the neatness of his hair, it because stunningly tedious.

It's amazing how different he looks from day to day. Goes to show how good our fuzzy-logic human recognizer systems are.

Andrew, this is the mullet day. If these are day-to-day images (I'm not sure exactly) I guess he had his hair cut twice, from "Richard Gere style" to the mullet and from the mullet to the "prison cut".

I saw this last year, it looks like he still needs a few new outfits in his wardrobe. Same shirt, agian, and again, and again..

The link was previously provided as a comment in this post. Which, incidentally, is one of my favorite FPPs on Mefi yet.

His page with links has some interesting, and similar, sites, including a link to The Shower Project --- photos of a man's successful (?) attempt to shower with 100 different women (ended durnig 1999).
