Hell Bent

"Hell Bent" - the title I've given this sculpture, is the culmination of an untold number of hours work. The sculpture depicts a modern Formula One car at speed, mid-turn, and indeed in the wet.

Man, that is one slow site. The sculpture (from the pictures that I patiently waited to appear) looks painstakingly detailed. It looks quite cool. I'll check out some of the close-up pics in a couple of days, when hopefully I won't have to wait so long.

and frames suck!

Looks like paper-clips used for the material to build this...
Hell Bent" is a very specific concentration of 624 pieces of polished 4043 aluminum wire, each hand shaped clear coated and individually installed in a precise pattern of mounting holes.

nice technique and a pretty cool idea...too bad he built a racecar.

As cool as that looks, nothing beats watching someone like Schumacher drive the car on the limit in the wet. He did a great job in depecting the spray, it's unbelievable that the drivers can actually see anything at those speeds with so much water flying around.

Nifty little sculpture. It looks like a computer wireframe model made of... well.. wires. My old high school used to do wireframe sculptures, but they always ended up looking like christmas lights that had just come out of the box. It's interesting to see one that looks so good. I agree with mcsweetie, though; too bad he made a race car.

Reminds me of matchstick art . . . Gerald Hawkes has some very interesting work at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. It's also a popular hobby in prisons, evidently.

That is beautiful. I want one.

Riffola: I agree. There is such awesome visual poetry to be found in any car being driven to the limit, and when its done with the skill of the top F1 drivers... wow.

oooh nice touch measuring the truck's size against a rifle in that prison art link there...

hellbent is a nice looking object, and neat pun.

snez's description had me expecting something totally amazing. It's a pretty cool piece of craft, but still looks not unlike one of those sculptures you get at a novelty gift store.

it's the "made by hand" over countless hours part that is totally amazing. I tried making some things last night after seeing that [heck, it's inspireing].. but nope, it's nowhere near looking like anything but broken and bent paper clips. sigh.
