David Tomlinson, the father in "Mary Poppins," dies. I remember watching him in both "Poppins" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and being just blown away by his charm and his ability. Another piece of childhood gone to heaven.

My four-year-old son is a huge fan of the Love Bug movies, and we have watched them hundreds of times in the past few years. Tomlinson was great as the sneering villain Mr. Thorndyke in the first one -- I love when he offers Dean Jones a glass of sherry, thinking he can afford a luxury sports car, and yanks the glass from his hand when Jones says he only has around $75. "Shall we regard our relationship as terminated?"
