Rhymer Rigby The most clever site I've seen in a long time -- Rhymer is a British journalist who is traveling the world with his girlfriend, Jane Treasure. Full of photos and hilarious captions to match. Definitely worth a stroll.

A strange house owned by a man who was into nailing dolls onto walls and impaling them on barbed wire. In a more stable country such as the UK he would have been hounded out of town by an angry mob of tabloid readers. Those famously illiberal Croats simply ignore him. Vis, Croatia, 2001

Whoa. Good find, sparky.

Is it just me or is the background a familiar shade of blue?

Good golly that's good. I'd probably spend obscene amounts of money on a book composed of these delightfully witty pictures and captions. Maybe.

It's everywhere.

Yea sparky! This kind of link is why I read Metafilter. I lost quite a bit of time with the photo captions, and then even more reading the journal itself and doing some quality vicarious living. I plan to visit again tonight when my day's work is done, read some more, and also check for a link to somehow send him money and help keep him out on the road.

Great link and it's a shame that it only has 5 comments when the road construction of Boston has more than 50

Great content and nice graphics, but the pages with content seem unnecessary buried, the photos and diary are the riches part of the site. Its black on white text is hard to read and seems somehow out of place, as though it's been emailed in and someone back home did a cut and paste. An hour with BloggerPro or Moveable Type and he'd have an amazing site, even his diary entries would be hyperlinked. Again, the content is great, but it's also a good example of how design can sometimes tip the scales of a site's 'returnability factor'.

Disgusting as it sounds, my projectile puking was leant a certain olde worlde charm by the lack of electricity. For not only did I have to rush to the bathroom in order to void the contents of my stomach, I also had to find matches beforehand in order to bring my guts up by candlelight.

I've been in and out of this site all day-- thanks Sparky.

Me, too. I'm totally addicted! I keep finding new things I haven't seen before. He's so clever. What an effort (despite the critics!)
