Speaking of Dobby... I think this is also the first time I've seen, in the book "review" section, a word count. posted by whatzit at 3:38 PM on January 28, 2003
that is the publisher's blurb to which you refer. They're just trying to get across the "Less Talk! More Quidditch!" message, I think. posted by Vidiot at 3:44 PM on January 28, 2003
Potter websites and chatrooms have been inundated with angry Russian messages attacking anyone suggesting a likeness between the elf and Mr Putin.
Anyone hang out someplace this has happened? posted by mediareport at 3:56 PM on January 28, 2003
"My boyfriend is in trouble again,
He got into a fight and got stoned on something,
I am sick of him and so I told him, get out of here, And now I want a man like Putin.
A man like Putin, full of energy,
A man like Putin who doesn't drink,
A man like Putin who wouldn't hurt me,
A man like Putin who wouldn't run away from me. "
"So, then, does Yevgenia want a boyfriend like Putin? Not really, she says, respectfully. The typically dour president isn't "appealing." posted by sheauga at 4:01 PM on January 28, 2003
In 1995, the prosecutor-general investigated alleged insults against Boris Yeltsin in a satirical puppet show. The case was later dropped.
Putin may also want to sue Steve Spurrier. Here's (scroll to the bottom) a picture of Spurrier and Dobby. The writer referenced this in no less than ten columns. posted by Frank Grimes at 4:47 PM on January 28, 2003
so THAT'S where TMQ went! Very cool...when it stopped appearing in Slate, I assumed Easterbrook just got tired of writing it. posted by Vidiot at 5:19 AM on January 29, 2003
