Mitnick Interview

kevin mitnick, the famed hacker who was released recently from jail has granted Slashdot an interview in which he debunks many of the myths about him. He provides some insights into the ethics of the journalists that profitted from his case.

I'll help this along.

Why is that every time Mitnick rips on John Markoff it sounds like the nutjob screeds sent by prison inmates, in which they link Michael Jordan, Ronald Reagan and the Pope in a nefarious plot? Maybe it's something about the past perfect tense.

If it's true that Markoff tried to make money off of his reportage, how is that morally different than Mitnick making money off of his hacking by selling movie options and writing books?

Maybe because Mitnick is more or less telling the truth about his criminal past, and Markoff is pretty much just pulling stuff out of his ass in pursuit of some personal vendetta?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of what mister hacker boy pulled - although I do think he got a pretty rough deal, relative to his crime - but, damn.
