Remarkable paintings

These are quite remarkable (imho) paintings. Click on the thumbnails to see how they would look on your living room wall. Very different from what they depict when viewed at a distance.

This post was deleted for the following reason: I've seen these in person, they're a trip. I also saw them here already.

Yey, a repost of my very own!

My apologies. I searched the link before I posted but the thread didn't appear.

I don't know how I missed this when you posted it, I log onto metafilter every day.

Still, the paintings are pretty wonderful, I think. I'd love one.

So why is this art, while my pixelized blow up of a porn star's nipple isn't? ;)

For some reason my office seems to have a problem with a 60*80 pixel image blown up to 1280*1024.

possibly NSFW...

imh: SFW unless you have an overly PC management, over dominant IT department or feminist colleagues... Erm... yeah, okay... NSFW.

Where is the art/porn boundary?

Where is the art/porn boundary?

Somewhere in the neighborhood of FilePile.

One of these would look great in small bathrooms for some reason...

I'm sorry, but even up close these look like super-low resolution porn. It doesn't take much imagination to see what it is.

These were on display in San Francisco several months ago (at a bar, no less; the Latin American Club, for those in the area). They're far more impressive in person than they seem on the web. They really don't look like anything unless you're standing pretty far away from them.

or feminist colleagues...

Umm, boo to you from my office full of feminists who appreciate good porn.

I love them, and I am a feminist who isn't overly fond of porn. I just like interesting depictions of nudity in art. I wish I was rich and the ones I like the best weren't already sold.

sorry guys... I work in an office that deals with porn, so I'm even more desensitsed to it than I was before I started here. The female form is the female form. A couple rutting is an invasion of privacy, but it's nothing erotic. I'd rather have that picture of the lass in the bra from yesterday to penetration picture... I guess i just associate people who don't like porn being people who don't like to see the female figure naked, and those (in my experience) tend to be highly religious or femanists.

I'll review my opinions. A little. ;)

Wulfgar! -- you broke the first rule!

...and the second rule.

Personally I don't like the paintings. big whoop, they are low res pr0n thumbnails painted by number with oils. plus at any size i immediately see the hardcore porn in the image. Not to sound like an art snob (i'm definately not), but I think I prefer other work:
1
, 2, 3, 4.

tomplus2 snubs pr0n and goes straight for the Monet shot.
