oh, no .. not Grover

oh, no .. not Grover. What many of us didn't see behind that brave exterior was a monster cowering in the face of his own insecurities, a monster so unsure of himself he wouldn't even watch his own performances, and a monster who ultimately allowed his own weaknesses to overcome him and nearly ruin his career. A genius, a tyrant, a womanizer or just a washed-up drunk? It's time to expose Grover- the monster behind the myth.

Some of the pictures were pretty funny but there's no way I'm reading 6 chapters about a muppet.

About a muppet? Those were six chapters of my life. The drugs, the parties, the years I barely remember.

Except for that Saturday night in '78 when I was stumbling down a dark dangerous street looking for my car. Way too many shots and I had no idea what that gang of kids were yelling. When the limo door opened and that blue hand helped me in I just collapsed in tears.

I can't remember what he said and I barely remember him softly singing "What do I do When I'm Alone" as I sobbed about my life. Grover listened though. He helped. He carried me to my room and I passed out.

I woke up the next morning and the TV was was tuned to Sesame Street. I knew that was my sign and I was ready to turn my life around. I got sober.

Grover saved my life. He also gave me Little Grover, but I never called to let him know about that. Maybe it's time he met his son?

Muppets come from the old country, as everyone knows.

Even Fozzie Bear.
