Friday Flash Fun with Cutethulhu

Friday Flash Fun with Cutethulhu. That right kids, he's not just Cthulhu, demon squid and priest of the Great Old Ones from H. P. Lovecraft mythos. He's a popular plush toy and the cuddly inanimate star of his own flash anime-style short. Enjoy!

From the the cyclopean city deep under the sea, dead but dreaming Cthulhu's shifts in his sleep, restlessly, and his eery dreaming ululations of impotent rage echo through the cthonic realm and the myriad dimensional reaches of time and space.

He summons his grotesque, miscegenated minions, howling and flopping, crawling and swimming from every quarter. He reaches across the Aeons, summoning the banished Old Ones from their exile in the far reaches of space and time. He patiently waits, gathering strength, waiting for the hour of his coming.

We've seen Plush Cthulhu before, though these links are new.

mcwetboy: I always search MeFi posts going back to day one (by link and keyword) before posting anything myself. One bitten, twice shy. The point was to show the animation (which I think is hilarious) and provide a context for the plush Cthulhu in the cartoon by providing the link to the real world plushie. Is it a MeFi sin to discuss a topic more than once if the latter post is relational and not an exact duplicate of the original?

troutfishing: From your reference link: Students of horror, science fiction and the occult have long argued that Lovecraft's work was far less fictional than he claimed, suggesting everything from a secret involvement with magickal lodges to telepathic communication with nonhuman intelligences.

An interesting idea kind of like the chicken and the egg question. Which came first Cthulhu or Lovecraft? Thank you for pointing that essay out.

(My point was to refer to an earlier, related post, not to call out a double post. Carry on.)

Or should I say, I cannot keep myself from canceling download.

Nifty. Thanks VelvetHellvis!

While the plush Cthulhu is nice, I'm a big fan of Carl Cthulhu from the Little Gloomy comic books - the unspeakable horror that dreams of pink bunnies and dreads the day he'll have to kill everyone on earth.

Hey, kids - its Cthulhu Friday here at Metafilter!

I purchased a plush Cthulhu (medium size) for my cousin, a big Lovecraft fan, last September, and am pleased to report that he arrived promptly in the mail all the way from R'lyeh, looked quite spiffy, and has thus far refrained from eating any of her pets or, as far as we can tell, causing her to go on any killing sprees. Highly recommended.

Me and Cthulhu go way back. His mom used to drive me to kindergarden everyday since both my parents worked double shifts at the license plate quary. Cthulhu's dad was a scientist at the local crayon factory. I remember spending the night at his house eating TV dinners and playing Colecovision. We lost touch after he was asked to leave the Sunday Church youth group for wearing Iron Maiden t-shirts.
I miss that guy. Maybe I will see him at our 25th year High School reunion. I heard he is working on a new album with Rob Zombie.

Reminds me of Babylon Park for some reason.
Before I go to lie sleeping, here's a Cthulhu gif that looks a bit like a photo of the old sea dog!
Something else I found; a bizarre anti-Apple Lovecraft spoof for bedtime reading.
