Making Sure Usability 'Fitts' Flash Another thought provoking article about making better Flash sites on the web. I have to admit, I consider myself a designer, but I had never heard of Fitt's Law until I read this piece. Oh, I thought this was a nice quote:
Chris' First Law of Usability: Usability makes everything easier except for the job of the Designer.Amen to that!
very interesting article. some nice tips, not just for flash-based design.
i am tired of the "u" word. aren't you tired of the "u" word? through overuse, it has slowly emptied of meaning.

one thing that would be nice would be if Flash wasn't such a bitch of a program to use, its own user interface needs a good beating - hence if Macromedia fixed Flashs programming interface and user interface, the uselessness of current flash pages might decrease in number?

The URL for the article at the top of this thread is incorrect. It should be: http://Flazoom.com/news/fitts_07102000.shtml

technically, the link was not incorrect. the url has moved, as it always does at the site. info first appears on the news page; later it gets a permanent link. a "permanent link for this story" bookmark would enhance the ... uh ... usability of the site.
i find flazoom well-written and useful, even if the editor-in-chief does sometimes seem to have a grudge against joshua davis (praystation).
more important than grudges or shifting urls are the ideas in the editorial, which apply to ALL web design, not simply to flash-based design.
