Pretty impressive Flash Mind Reader. I don't get the trick here. I imagine there's a plethora of MeFi'ers that can explain it to me, though.

yeah, if you do the little math they want you to do, you're always going to end up with a multiple of 9. the symbols change every time you refresh, and if you notice all the multiples of 9 have the same symbol. voila.

OK, I couldn't find the post, but this has been posted within the past month or so.

Long story short, the number you think of (based on their formula) will alwasy be a multiple of nine. All multiples of nine have the same symbol, and the symbols change when the screen changes.

Sorry to spoil the fun but it's not magic, just math.
See series: 2, 9, 15, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 59, 63, 72, 75, 81

15-(1+5) = 9
18-(1+8) = 9
.....>
81-(8+1) = 72

Given their rules, 10x+y-x-y=9x. Yup, multiple of 9 every time.

Keno, what does your series have to do with this puzzle?

See series: 2, 9, 15, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 59, 63, 72, 75, 81

were you thinking of 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90?
