Nothing to see move along, move along. Curious to what the picture actually showed? You're not alone.

Deleted photograph spawns soon-to-be-deleted Metafilter thread. No film at 11.

Seems obvious. It showed the location of a military base. What are you implying? That I should be curious? I'm not.

So, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it's time for our readers to crack each other's heads open, and feast on the goo inside?

Googled for kuw100. Nothing.

Damn. Google's just not fast enough.

Here they are: pictures with corrected captions. Of course, they have been corrected, so you can't see what they originally said in the captions.

Man, at first glance I thought this was a picture of a miitary base in Kuwait.

It is warm there, you know?

Shhh. It's a secret. We're invading Iraq. There are army men and women in Iraq.

I bet it was something identifying that bombed out bunker (2nd photo), and why it was destroyed. The fact that the photo shows the bunker, and the fact that the bunker was bombed in 1991, must give some indication to someone familiar with Iraqi infrastructure exactly where they're at.

Much more likely Kuwaiti or Saudi infrastructure than Iraqi, I would think. While I've no doubt that special forces units are already operating in Iraq, I'd bet a large sum of money that there aren't any British or US warplanes (like that RAF Tornado) based in Iraq.

It was probably a screenshot of one of John Ashcroft's old bondage movies.

I know a guy at Yahoo. It was actually a scan of a page from The King in Yellow, and nobody knows who put it up, but hundreds of people went crazy before they could take it down. Weird, wild stuff.

I saw this earlier. Here's what it said:
PLEASE BE ADVISED PICTURES FROM KUWAIT, KUW100 THROUGH 106 WHICH MOVED BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 1500 AND 1600GMT MARCH 10, 2003 INADVERTENTLY IDENTIFIED THE LOCATION OF THE MILITARY BASE. PLEASE DO NOT IDENTIFY THE MILITARY BASE UPON PUBLICATION. IF REFERENCE IS REQUIRED THEN THE PHRASE 'SOMEWHERE IN THE GULF' SHOULD BE USED. REUTERS APOLOGIZES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED.
Whoops.

It was a picture, but if you looked at it you immediately got a phone call from a woman telling you that you had seven days.
