Puzzlement, awe, and finally I'm laughing like hell.... It got me to thinking of my time working in a pet superstore -- the horrified looks I'd get from soccer moms when I'd try to tell them that, dollar for dollar, the rats were the best pets they could buy for their kids. (The kids always gravitated to hamsters, anyway.)

I once came across a book of poetry/stories by Crispin Glover at Tower Records that was autographed and discounted to sell for something like $6. I wish I had bought it, but I was poor at the time. April Winchell has an mp3 of Crispin doing a cover of 'These Boots Were Made for Walking' that is just beyond words (at the bottom of the page - worth the scroll down). And the best song about Crispin Glover has to be the Warlock Pincher's 'Where the hell is Crispin Glover?' I hope Willard does well so Crispin can continue to be 'endearingly creepy.' I have heard Crispin Glover's album. I hate it. Despite that, when I saw a copy at the store, I purchased it for my boyfriend, who loves that album. The only song I'll even consent to listen to is "Automanipulator".

Excellent. This may rehabilitate "Ben" in the UK. Here, a whole generation remembers only the 1980s Marti Webb version, which hijacked the song in aid of a pukily maudlin TV show campaign to raise funds for the cheerful, popular and brave Little Ben Hardwick, a child with liver disease. It became conveniently forgotten that the song was originally about a rat.

Crispin Glover is, as always, endearingly creepy. He comes by it honestly. His dad was one of the all-time creepiest James Bond villains.

Reinforces my decision to skip the movie. Rodents completely skeeve me out. But it is brilliant in its madness and creepiness -- and it raises the question: Creepier Character: Michael Jackson as Michael Jackson or Crispin Glover as Willard?
