Hell, people with land are not under any obligation to let nosy neighbors come stomping around the place, anymore than suburbanites are under any obligation to let their neighbors in to inspect the handtowels. Why on earth would this woman think that property owners should allow her egress to their land?

dejah420, people also aren't legally required to be friendly or introduce themselves to their neighbors, but in some parts of the world it's considered odd not to. In other places, of course, it's considered strange to be too friendly. also, I think you meant "ingress". Property owners are generally required to allow egress.

The New York one is the best - private airfield, nice wilderness location, and 20,000 sq ft of empty underground space to conduct your evil operations. Although the Colorado one is cool too - an entire underground *base*, not just one silo.

Screw that lame-o missile silo, this is the hot shit: right here. its perfect! i could fill one floor with Sun kit, the next floor would hold all my Crays and one floor would have to be a dedicated theater. now all i need is a cape, an evil maniac laugh and an army of robots to smite my enemies.

but in some parts of the world it's considered odd not to [be friendly]. I'm guessing that, once you've gone so far as to move into a missile silo, the assumption ought to be that you're not going to want a lot of drop-in visitors. (Some of these do look kind of nifty, though, if you could solve the lack-of-windows problem somehow...)

Reminds me of the Diefenbunker, a Cold War-era nuke shelter in Alberta that entrepeneur Loren Wiberg of Innisfail wanted to turn into a giant medical pot growing operation. Sadly, in spite of the support of then-Canadian Alliance and federal Opposition leader Stockwell Day*, it was not to be. *Yep, that's right, our version of the religious right, led by a man who honestly believed man walked the earth with dinosaurs because the Bible said so, actually supported medical marijuana. Jealous?
