Oh it's lovely!!! *drools* I am in love with Beetles! I can't help it! Will someone buy me one? ;-)

I would, but it'd cost ya.

At first I hated the interface, but once I figured it out I thought it was pretty damn cool. And the music is by a neato techno MP3c artist. Very fab. =) But despite the flash of the new buggies, I'm still gonna stick with my Saturn. Less flash. More dependability.

I agree with Jeremy... I have no clue what I'm clicking on or where I'm going. Is this loading? Or is there something more to it? No idea. They could of had a link to a porn site in there and I would have blindly followed it.

Things I like about the Beetle: bigger than the old Beetle, side profile is nice.

Things I don't like about the Beetle: football field for a dashboard, ugly outside of the profile, it's a VW.

Things I like about the site: nice images.

Things I don't like about the site: one of the worst interfaces I've ever used. (Sorry, even after I figured it out :)

I thought it was one of the most apt flash interfaces I'd seen yet; actually in *keeping* with the product for a change.

Maybe it's me, but I think it's just y'all. :-)

One of the things I admired about the original Beetle was that a shadetree mechanic could practically field-strip the bloody thing with a Swiss army knife. No chance of that on the modern computerized-everything model.

old Beetle = cheap reliable transportation for the masses
new Beetle = flashy overpriced boutique car

The old one was mostly substance and the new one is mostly fashion. Funny how VW made the new Beetle into the polar opposite of the original. But what do I know?

skullhead - you are actually pretty accurate. The thing about the old beetle was that if you didn't do routine maintenance on it, the car would punish you by breaking down. The most important being changing the oil and cleaning the oil screen on a routine basis. Fortunately, the car was designed to be easy to maintain.

The new beetle is polar opposite on more than a few fronts. The new beetle is more reliable with less maintenance, gets better mileage, pollutes far less, has working environmental controls other than windows, and is, by a huge margin, a much safer vehicle.

old beetle = cheap, maintainable, death trap
new beetle = expensive, reliable, safe vehicle

(FYI, I put > 100K on a 72 super that died with 250K, on its second engine rebuild, and did most of the maintenance myself)
