Makar Sankrant, the kite flying day in India, falls on January 14th of each year. You can see hundreds of people flying kites all day, engaging in kite fights, and just having fun.

I love kites, I am gonna go fly one tomorrow (no puns)

If you're interested, I ran across The Japanese Kite Collection, which isn't related to Planet Kite, but has some nice descriptions, links and images.

Very eclectic range of kites, hama7 - I was unaware of underwater kiting - from Lebanon, no less.
