It's opening day! (Forget that silly game last night.) Whether you follow the evil empire or the best barnstorming team, today is the start of another season. Old-timers, fantasy players, card collectors, men, women, young, old: all love America's pastime.

Just in case I didn't have enough links on the front page: John Skilton has the rest. Ok, two more: The Baseball Tao Poem of the Day and the greatest moment in major league baseball.

I'm definitely going up to Montreal this Summer to catch a few Expos' games. Just in case. Baseball just won't be the same without them.

Go Phillies! This is the year. Yep. I said that last year and the year before that and the year before that but this year I really, really, really mean it. Thank you for the women's league links - they lead to some good pics and articles about Chihiro Kobayashi, my favorite female baseball player. My favorite male baseball player is Nolan Ryan. I have two crushes - Nolan Ryan and Mr. Clippy.

I want a baby so I can buy the I love baseball shoes. Great links - thanks!

Woohoo! Don't forget statheads, ballpark collectors, wannabe agents, and bloggers.

I'll be at the Yankees' home opener next Monday, though cheering for the Twins. I may live here now, but I grew up with the Twins. (So close last year after almost being eliminated. Fuck Selig.)

Anyhow, an afternoon home opener at Yankee Stadium, my Twins against the Yankees. Doesn't get any better than that.

Well chris, there's this thing called the world series, but it's usually played in the Bronx! So there! :)

Go Yankees!

If Griffey has a great year
If Larkin isn't too old
If Austin Kearns's wrist has healed
If Sean Casey has regained his swing
If Adam Dunn is in his pre-all-star form
If Brandon Larson is all he is supposed to be
If Gulliet Can work his Pitching Staff Mojo(tm) again
If Uncle Carl raises the budget to make trades in the stretch
If only I wasn't a small market team fan.

Pete Rose forever, Bud Selig never!

Ordered the baseball package through DirectTV this year. The missus (also a baseball freak) and I are drooling. We'll probably have lost all our friends by September, but what a way to go....

and Mick, they're both scumbags....

I'm almost ashamed to admit being a Milwaukee fan, what with the Selig bashing.

But:

At least the Seligs are outta there, Wendy having been retired to a symbolic do-nothing role. I have high hopes for the Brew Crew this year - especially since one of ours made it to the Hall of Fame in the off-season.

Okay, so it was Uecker... but it's a start. Right?

Huzzah! Baseball is back! Here's to the Mariners, the Padres and my fantasy team. Ya'll try not to blow it this year.

... America's pastime.

How I long for those sweet, sweet seasons of '92 and '93...

The World Series, LouReedsSon? Wait, I have vague memories of it. Yes, yes of course, we won it in '87 and '91. :) Doesn't compare to the Yankees I know, but better than most teams. Ahh, opening day Yankees/Twins, it just doesn't get better in the regular season. ;)

Damn those Reds. Build them a stadium, and they lose the first game in it of the season in it.

I know it ain't over till it's over, but I just saw Sorriano hit a grand slam taking the Yanks 8-0 over Toronto... Gotta love these guys!
