It might be satire twine42, but there are people that think that they find truths in things like this. Consider that people believe in The Bible Code. The Bible Code adherents believe that secret information is encoded in the bible and that by arranging the letters in a grid you can find these messages sort of like a cross word puzzle. Of course there's no standard grid and never mind that the current bible is a translation of a translation of pieced together and hand selected works.

Isn't there some sort of Godwin's law parallel that applies to any mention of Nostradamus...? Once people start citing good ole Nostra-dude as proof or evidence of *anything*, it's obvious that they are too far gone to be bothered with facts, reason, etc... Having said that, the link is clearly a satirical site. Parody is sometimes funny, I'll admit.

To me, the whole idea of one single Antichrist in the future is rather poor exegesis...did these people really read 1 John, or just skim it for scary words? The book says anyone who does not acknowledge Jesus and God as father and son is an antichrist, and that many "antichrists" have already come and gone. Ironically, the so-called bible literalist fundamental Christians always seem to have a bad understanding of scripture.

And I go to church every Sunday (well... one than one a month) to keep my fiancee happy and to take part in their hymns and prayers and chants that seem way too much like brain washing techniques for my liking. Sorry, wrong thread. Agreed about the Godwin/Nostrodamus thing. We can call it Twine's Second Law if you want. History has a tendency of repeating itself. Unfortunately, sometimes so does prophecy. When John wrote the Book of Revelations, he was expecting the end of the world and the return of Christ to happen in his own lifetime. Personally, I think Revelations was a rather exagerrated description of the Fall of the Roman Empire, which was destroyed by fire, with Nero fiddling while it burned. So as far as I'm concerned, Revelations already happened. It's just that John didn't get the details right. The thousand years of peace that John spoke about was what we refer to today as "The Dark Ages" with the Roman Catholic Church controlling all the known knowledge of the human race until the Rennaissance put an end to its tyranny. Your mileage will no doubt vary, but as far as I'm concerned, mystery solved. What's happening now? It's yet to be written, which, come to think of it, is a bit more unsettling than blind faith in prophecy.
