REbranding a few famous sites to more honestly represent the true nature of the sites.

The CNN splash is funny, but it moves downhill quickly.

There should be an epileptic warning before viewing the teletubbies site. The webpage almost gave me a seizure.

Oh, it's easy:

The sum of all human knowledge at your fingertips,
and you're searching for "Britney Spears".

Ha!

RJ Reynolds: lol!

Btw, amazon has always seemed to be pretty into the whole 'cluetrain' thing.

I liked the Google page, but the one for Entropy8zuper ("Crashing your browser since 1999") is pointless; they themselves have noted on the site that crashing browers is the least of their worries.

I'm a fan, what can I say. I'm willing to sit through a few forced restarts in order to watch pieces like Leviticus.

CNN one was quality.

Sorta reminds me of that movie with Dudley Moore.

Thanks, Riff. Interesting proof that honest descriptions are always boring and, in a perverse way, untruthful. The Onion's rebranding is correct but it goes against - or at least misrepresents - its spirit.

RJ: Teehee! You captured the obsessive masochism perfectly!

Not funny. Too ham-handed to be effective satire and obvious as well.

Perhaps they should REbrand themselves since they ripped this idea off from MAD Magazine (who I am sure ripped the idea off from someone else).

He has REbranded himself - playdamage (his site) is one of the sites getting the treatment. What would be really mind-blowing now would be for him to REbrand this thread, and then we could link to it, and then we could REbrand his REbranding of this thread. Thanks for the link, REffola.

Whoa. The guy who did that teaches at the school I go to, UNC-Asheville, in the Multimedia Arts and Sciences program. Apparently they started hiring people who know what they're doing (which, believe me, is a new concept). Too bad I'm graduating and won't get a chance to take one of his classes.

I found their treatment of The Onion to be very Onion-esque, which is more than apprpos.
(Of course, three months ago I found myself hospitalized for two weeks with no web, no cable tv and only a couple Christmas gift books from home: the Leo LaPorte Almanac and the 3-volume Onion Archive gift set. I emerged from the hospital very tired of both Leo and the Onion.)

The teletubbies made me laugh out loud.
I'd add a little though: "We've come for your children....and we're going to turn them GAY!" (according to Falwell)
