Fatal Shooting at New Orleans High School. Another violent high school death. Bush should send troops to liberate New Orleans.

Nice Bush work in. Next time, see if you can work Patty Hearst into an unrelated post.

NewsFilter, bare nra link, and gratuitous Bush reference. Why, The Jesse Helms, I think you just managed the very rare "Troll Trifecta"!

Didn't the government threaten to send in the National Guard to liberate New Orleans from its police force a few years ago?

Conspiracy theorists note the second hit in this Google query, which doesn't even match Google's cache any more. Spooky stuff.

"Bush should send troops to liberate New Orleans". That is so racist. Well, I'm heading to I-Hop, heard about their special?

Police said gunfire from an AK-47 assault rifle erupted near the John McDonogh High School gymnasium at about 10:30 a.m. Police do not yet know how the gun was smuggled onto the campus, which has metal detectors and is patrolled by four armed security officers.

Interesting. I assume the rifle could have been disassembled and taken in piece by piece to make it less bulky, but that doesn't get around the metal detectors.

I mean why the NRA link

If you are going to troll the waters so blatantly with a post of this nature, a link to the gun fanatic's club is mandatory.

Did the minimum-age requirement for new MeFi accounts get lowered recently, or something?

There, there, jonmc...(pats jonmc's back)

jonmc then emits a Barney Gumble-size burp, thereby rupturing the space-time continuum of this thread.

I thought the liberating Bush line was just a joke. Simmer down, people. The NRA reference was a bit of politicizing, but I feel confident that Mr. Helms is aware that New Orleans troubles have little to do with George Bush. I think we can all agree that an AK-47 in a high school is pretty fucking apalling.

Now, in a public service effort to get The Jesse Helms to lighten up, I hereby hammer the final nail in this thread (mixing my metaphors with a Compost Tumbler), and present The Helms Bakery Truck!!! (It's an Old Los Angeles thing)

There, now I agree.

Hmmm...I'm guessing that TJH is referring to the AK-47's widespread use in countries supplied with arms by the former Soviet Union...e.g. Afghanistan, Iraq...

...or maybe not...

The NRA is to the second amendment as the ACLU is to the first. I don't think they're really behind the whole automatic weapons in school thing, either.

I'd kill you, if I could afford it. You better hope I can't get no bullets on lay-away.
