I thought that they were just dancing randomly until greased lightning came on. They synced up that greased lightning finger pointing move. Wow! Oneday, perhaps I'll be able to download dancing skills, Matrix style.

WindowsFilter. Blargh. This sounds very interesting, but there isn't a WMV client on FreeBSD. : But, I guess the stability, security, convenience of /usr/ports, CVS access of stable/dev sources and geek-coolfactor of FreeBSD outweighs all of that. Oh, and it makes rationalizing my pointless, lonely life much easier. I feel cool, yet lonely. Le sigh. Maybe it's time I move onto OpenBSD to feel like even more of a seclusive loser.

Yeah, cussed Windows Media. Gotta say, though, this is the one thing that almost had me installing the player on my Mac. Almost. Apparently getting the AIBO to walk on two legs is an instant A in this semester's Legged Locomotion Seminar at CMU. This page shows another guy's stab at getting it to work, though it doesn't look like he got as far as AiboPet did. Most people aren't aware that the AIBO is a rather well designed and built robot, and thus (from an engineering standpoint) worth its $1,300 price. The fact that it's possible to get it up on two legs (and keep it there!) is a testament to its quality. In many respects, AIBO is a toy, but certainly not in its manufacture.

stavrogin: offtopic: i haven't used it, but i see there is an mplayer port for freebsd available. (i only use freebsd for server stuff) however, all my friends who use mplayer on linux distros say it plays anything they throw at it, even wmp 9 codecs. the aibo hacking that is going on is truly impressive. from what i understand, the aibo platform started off very closed, and the hacks have really come along. the new 'non-doggy' aibos are very cool, also.

I never even thought of trying mplayer for this. I only use it for AVIs and MPGs. But, it worked. Weird. Apparently WMV is just ASF/DSHOW video and DIVX audio. Maybe mplayer will score the sorensen codecs so I can finally watch quicktime movies. Thanks for the tip, complex.
