Let's use turkey guts for oil! The only problem... PETA members are likely to cry foul.

Hrm, I'm a vegetarian and normally find PETA to be absurd but I don't see the link here. Turning slaugherhouse waste to fuel oil seems less noxious than using it for animal feed or fertilizer. And the point of the article is that the process supposedly can be tuned to render just about any organic solid waste from tires to sewage.

How many barrels of oil would we get from 100 lbs. of pancakes?

PETA members are likely to cry fowl. (I think you meant to say)

This absolutely rocks. I think the most astounding thing is that the most useful aspect of this process is that it can deal with any type of waste, not more EU fridge mountains due to regulations about dismantling them.

The oil and other products are more a side benefit. Perhaps though this is not the blessing it first seems, as campaigners try to move energy generation and usage away from oil and gasoline a process arrives that makes the use of oil more acceptable. Is this a long term solution to the problem that burning oil creates or simply prolonging the inevitable downfall of the oil economy.

If a 175-pound man fell into one end, he would come out the other end as 38 pounds of oil, 7 pounds of gas, and 7 pounds of minerals, as well as 123 pounds of sterilized water

A new variation of Soylent? Only this time not for direct human consumption.

That'll ruffle a few feathers!

I thank PETA for looking out for our long-term interests. After all, once PETA has successfully convinced everyone to stop eating meat, there won't be anything to put into these plants anymore, and our cheap oil source will fade away, and we'll be dependent on other countries for our oil again. After we al stop eating meat.

I think this is great. I've been wondering what to do with the 342,675,944 pounds of turkey guts I've got out behind the woodshed.
