Yeah, they call it BioDesiel, and it's been around for quite a while...
In fact, I was just reading an article about 4 girls who drove a VW Minibus cross-country on used grease... That was about 5 years ago, so I don't know why we haven't heard more about it; It seems like a pretty good idea...

Actually, there's a company making engine oil out of canola oil. http://www.agromgt.com/
