FYI: Sortof a double post of this recent thread; the previously linked page isn't quite the same, but it's appears to be from the same creator and has similar address aspects. Still, super fun.

I didn't know the Saturn V rocket was taller than the Statue of Liberty! Far out! I've seen the one that's laid down on the ground at NASA's Houston Space Center, so I knew it was one big honkin' rocket, but still, wow.

"La la la la, ooh, look! A blue whale! Wow, check out that big ship! This is really -- aaaaaaaaaaah! What the hell is that?"

Compelling. Fascinating.

Kudos to the creator for including classics like the Space 1999 Eagle and the 2001 Discovery.

I can't help but wish there were more real objects, though. A sperm whale? Uluru? The Himalayas?

Very cool, though.
Ooop! There is a blue whale...

I like the buildings, whales, ships etc. but, I'm sorry, it's kind of hard to get excited about the size of imaginary spaceships and monsters. I mean, they're just as big as the guy who invented them says they are.

If you like these, I can send you a scale image of the 3 mile high stick figure from my latest epic poem...

I didn't realize as I was copying and pasting the links, but the "Copy link address" removes the # and everything that follows it.
The space slug made me laugh out loud, but I almost fell outta my chair so it might be the same thing as getting scared by it. I was surprised, we'll put it that way.

The original Enterprise was a Constitution class starship, which I didn't personally see in the FPP's link either, but it's available at the original site mentioned by ChrisEge if you scroll down.

The Star Trek Next Generation version of the Enterprise was known as a Galaxy class starship. Also available at the original link. The Galaxy class starship is supposed to be five times bigger than the original ship in volume and mass, according to the Writer/Director Bible written by Gene Roddenberry in the first year of STNG's inception, before they came up with Lt. Worf, or cast the other leading roles.

Also notable among the list is the Excelsior class starship, which eventually became the short-lived home for the original crew in the movies, after Kirk destroyed the original ship in Star Trek 3. What I miss among this collection is The Reliant, which Khan used to seek out revenge on Kirk in Star Trek 2, easily the best Star Trek movie ever made.

Oh. The non Star Trek ships are uhm... okay too I guess. *smirk* Overall these are great links! Thanks gang for making this Monday just a little less intolerable. It warms this old geek's heart to see these things and be able to move'm around.

What I miss among this collection is The Reliant

[dork]
As you know, Bob, Reliant is a Miranda-class starship. It's in there.
[/dork]

Me, I still wish there were some things from books in here -- a Thug or Psychopath-class Rapid Offensive Unit, or a GCU, or a nice big Orbital. And a Xeelee nightwing, and maybe some things from the Vorkosiganverse, and a Mazianni carrier.

mcsweetie, the Millenium Falcon is listed with the smaller Star Wars vessels, along with the AT-AT which King Kong could've easily ridden like a camel. And oh yea, seeing the Space Slug was great.

Another link

I'm impressed! While the site was inherently geeky in nature, the proximity of the ships does help one gain a sense of the scale of the ships as they were intended to provoke. Some of my favorite additions were the bugs from Starship Troopers, the Borg cube, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Chewbacca and that physically jarring Space Slug (still looks like a sock puppet to me, though).

Notable omissions: The RMS Titanic? I figured that was a pretty famous vesel from naval history, and would probably be worth including in that context.

cbrody: That link contains far more "information" about the SW Death Stars than I ever cared to know.
