Nice find. Another goldmine for this sort of thing is pantheon.org's Encyclopedia Mythica. (Not so many pretty pictures though).

plep, I couldn't access the Library of Congress site either yesterday or today...do you think we broke it? The topic looks great, but it may explain the muted reaction to this post.

I couldn't access the Library of Congress site either yesterday or today I still can't reach it, but it's doubtlessly a significant post, and I look forward to a more bandwidth-friendly period. Thanks in advance, plep, for what will be (assuredly) another great post.

The LoC site (not just this part of it) was, indeed, down from Saturday night until Sunday afternoon. Everything's back up now.
