Don't like medfia consolidation? You can use the market to fight back. Just get a <s>billboard</s>, <s>radio ad</s>, or <s>tv ad</s> to trumpet your cause. Never mind.

I can't help but noticing your link to my favorite tv show, specialk. I wonder how much more fucked would the media be without PBS.

moveon.org has a form to post to the FCC website and contact your Senators here.

I can't imagine Bill Moyers not getting picked up by a network. The idea that an elderly former Baptist minister would be too radical for TV is as hilarious as the idea that I would find myself agreeing with Pat Buchanan...

So yeah, when PBS gets axed, so does homeboy's career.

Though you'd have difficulty finding a more ardent supporter of NPR and PBS than myself, they are not truly innocents when it comes to the deregulation of radio spectrum and station ownership.

NPR was a key player in the effort to squelch LPFM initiatives proposed by the FCC and the Clinton administration a few years ago. I've written a bit more about this issue on my personal site.
[self link that is pertinent to the discussion, and will save casual readers from reading pages of text were it posted directly into the thread. Please don't freak out.]

Powell is obviously a fan of the CATO Institute. Some time ago, someone convinced them that there is no such thing as a monopoly, that monopolies are good, and that no bad monopoly can survive in the marketplace, unless propped up by government.
If this sounds like utter hooey to you, as it did to me, don't try to argue it with a CATO-ist. They have embraced it as their new religion, with all the certainty of any other breed of fanatic.
