I haven't read the article, but BBC News was saying this morning that they think it was a pet that someone let loose. So the poor bugger wasn't scared of humans, but was willing to defend it's territory from them. So someone put it down. Aren't humans great...

Get drunk with owls, drop acid with cows
I want to make friends with the badger.
The badger's your friend, make friends with the badger.
The badger's your friend, make friends with the badger.

As the last victim returned from hospital yesterday, after having skin grafts to his legs and an arm, residents described Boris's arrival as being like a scene from a horror film
A rural hospital that does skin grafts to go?
I have been to Evesham a few times, pretty, boring and full of old people. / wide brush
'The Evesham accent is wonderful. I have grown up in Evesham but somehow I dont have a local accent. Think of a farmers accent, now think of that farmer being a bit thick, now think of him whining while he speaks! That is the best way to discribe a true evesham accent. The saying that are local are also pretty fab. Local people put the word 'else' on the end of most sentances. Also you may here a young person saying 'that's tight, that is' meaning 'thats unfair'. Words like head may be said as Yud, or perhaps eating being called yuttin.'

May a plague of badgers befall them!

Sad situation. Wouldn't surprise me if Boris had a bad experience with a human that set him off.

Two police officers. . . were forced to jump on to the bonnet of their patrol car when the snarling animal charged straight at them.

Still, I have to laugh at the image of 2 cops jumping on the hood of their car as a crazed 30# animal comes running at them...

As opposed to say, a good tempered badger putting five people in the hospital... I submit that the temperment of the badger is not only meaningless in this context, but also serves to distract the reader from the true purpose of the headline, namely to warn people that badgers = death, or at the very least badgers = hurt. I rest my case.

This happened just up the road from me (I'm in Gloucester) and was heavily covered in the local media. Badgers can be particularly nasty animals if you corner them - but they won't normally go out of their way to attack people, which is the odd thing here.
