List of bests permits you to keep track of how much you've read, seen, or heard according to all of those fun "X Greatest X's" of all time. A recommendation feature may be soon to follow.

Very cool! This will certainly keep me from continuing to print out all of AFI's lists to check off... This could be pretty cool with more features and stats... sort of like http://www.ymdb.com

That's quite cool, Ufez, thanks!

This is very nice, Ufez Jones, very nice indeed. It will help me both because it plays upon my vanity, and also because it helps me decide what to read next.

... if you don't have the book or film in question, we'll provide a link to Amazon.com where you can purchase it.
Hmmm. Big of them.

as opposed to what, dg? come over to loan it to you?

Not "as opposed to" anything, GriffX - just a note that this site is not perhaps as altruistic as it may seem. Perhaps I am too cynical, but I concluded that the whole site is just a way to generate income through Amazon affiliation.

We could debate all day about altruism and if it exists, but where did the site or Ufez claim that's what is going on here? It seems to be a nicely organized site which doesn't have pop-ups, annoying ads, or redirects. It provides the content it promises and all it asks in return is that if you wish to purchase a movie, cd, or book from amazon you click a little link. No doubt about it, the webmaster is an jerk just trying to generate income.

Yeah. If Amazon did this themselves it would be cool. I don't begrudge them the chance to make a little referral money; those of us who know about referral links can bestow our favor elsewhere if we choose, and those of us who don't ought to be able to guess when they see all the Amazon logos. I like the site, profit or non-profit.

I'm a sucker for best lists. Thanks, Ufez!

Touchy today, aren't we? My comment was not meant as anything other than an observation that whoever is running the site appears to be doing so for reasons of profit, at least in part. No big deal, it is a free world and he/she can do so with my blessing.

Like Miguel, I am a sucker for lists of any kind and love to compare myself with what the cool people are reading/watching/listening to etc, usually with depressing results.

Sorry if I was touchy. And now I have to do this (thanks, dg!):

Metafilter: not perhaps as altruistic as it may seem.
