1957 atomic revolution comic book. Quite a find for 1950s atomic memorabilia enthusiasts. Creepy and educational. Has anyone here ever heard of M.Philip Copp?

Using Google, I found reference to another of his "works" Crime, corruption and Communism, by M. Philip Copp (1952)

Sweet. There's nothing like that mid-20th century American optimism. Now, where are my atomic aircraft? And why does everyone have cancer?

I don't know why, but the art and lettering is strangely familiar and I just can't believe this is truly vintage 1950s. I just don't understand why...

Anyway, the pen-&-ink work is impressive. And it's always fun to look back and see how the future was originally envisioned (Thanks, Peter H).

Reminds me of the comic book that came with Infocom's Trinity, The Illustrated Story of the Atom Bomb.

The artwork looks like Al Williamson.

I'm guessing that M. Phillip Copp is either a pseudonym, or whoever wrote it...

The artwork looks like Al Williamson.

It does! Great art. Beautiful use of light and shading. But maybe the inking looks a little too slick and polished. But it could be! Something about the font was bugging me, too, like maybe it was computer-generated... but if you look closely, it is definitely hand-lettered.

At first I thought this was a modern impersonation of a vintage comic, maybe by the creators of Two-Fisted Science. But I guess not. It's just so slick...
