Fairy Congress aka Loonsville

Hoorah! Fairy Congress '03 is almost upon us. With the admiral goal of Promoting Quality Human & Fairy Relations and special guest Dotty Maclean of Findhorn Community fame who apparently has done more than any other person in the 20th century to popularize the idea that humans can communicate with devas, in attendance you'd be crazy to miss it. Sure looks like fun...

I don't believe in Fairies (or anything else for that matter), and I don't even really like kids all that much, but...awwwww!

That Devas link took over my sound card with its weird-ass fairy music even though I was using Winamp at the time but, yes, fairies are cool whether the little bastards exist or not.

Here are some texts and studies about fairies.

Don't mean to be Grammar Gestapo here, but shouldn't that be ADMIRABLE GOAL?? Or did zeoslap just get blindsided by the Evil MeFi SpellChecker (patent lo-o-o-ong pending)?
I wonder if somebody on this thread got FAERIE spell-bombed into Fairy? Or Aerie? Or Febrile? (all officially suggested alternatives)
Gee whiz, even 'blindsided' isn't in the dictionary. How about gobsmacked? Nope.
But I digress...
*rolls up sleeves to attempt to hoist thread back on tracks; gets hernia*

It would be cool to attend dressed as the world's biggest bug zapper or a particularly large can of insect repellant...

You, sir, sound like an evil squisher of Faeries...

By the way, the Waterboys forthcoming CD is named after the Universal Hall Arts Center at Findhorn, Scotland.

Are your wings, ears or horns looking a bit yesterday? Place your faerie fashion order before the big event.

One question about this Findhorn phenomenon which might seem obvious is: what , besides human irrationality (omnipresent), has lent impetus to this story ], especially if the Findhornians are merely a pack of ridiculous raving loonies?

A CIA plot? Aliens?

I have heard a lot recently about Otherkin (aka Fae, Fairths, Metahumans) -- those who believe that they are spiritually or physically other than human. It might surprise you to know that whole communities have built up around these kinds of beliefs.

Maybe they're on DMT.

As related personal anecdote, back when I was doing art for shows at sci-fi conventions and whatnot, I did a whole series of fairy paintings...but the print that sold out consistently was one I did of a fairy strip joint entitled "Hot Wings".

Gods, I adore bad puns...

For the sexual angle on fairies, read the novel "Photographing Fairies". A zillion times better than the film.
