Are you an urban acheiver? If so, you may want to go to the 2nd annual Big Lewboski What-Have-You Fest. The weekend of July 19th at a bowling alley in Louisville, KY. There will even be a Lebowski-mobile complete, we're assured by the FAQ, with some Creedence in the car. Want to see pics from last year? No problem. I'd consider going as long as they promised not to play any Eagles. I hate the fucking Eagles. Oh, and for those who do bowl, remember not to step over the line. Bowling is not Vietnam -- there are rules. Actually, it'd be great to go in a Jesus Quintana jumper suit. According to this book, they made a fake "Johnson" for Turturro with birdseed in a plastic bag. He actually wore it in the scene where he goes door-to-door to tell everyone he's a pederast. But he didn't wear it with the tight jumpsuit -- it apparently looked "obscene."

Back when I lived in LA, some friends threw a Lebowski party. We watched the movie with pitchers of white russians and you had to drink everytime someone said the word "dude". After a few hours of sobering up, we went to the In-N-Out near LAX, then followed it up with hours of bowling.

I'm guessing the 7:19 refers to the date of the event. Is there a deeper reason for selecting that date? Not that I'm aware of, but I haven't watched Lebowski in a good three months. I'm due for another viewing...

True, the date of the Leboski Fest is 7/19- but the page says: "We were especially excited about it because it is the date of this year's What-Have-You Fest" leading me to believe that there is a deeper significance. Perhaps the truth lies in an on screen detail that I have not digested. The Dude's apartment number? The date of Dude's perfect game?

Is there a deeper reason for selecting that date? I found a Lebowski screenplay and searched for both '7' and '19', and nothing relevant came up, so I'm guessing the date's completely arbitrary - although '7:19' could be in the movie but somehow not in the screenplay - like that nixon poster. Does anyone have the movie at hand?

believe it or not, i grew up in Louisville and spent many nights at the old Rose Bowl. if you get a strike with a non-white head pin, you get a free game. ok, maybe that's not that unique, but you're right down the street from the world's best Krispy Kreme, not to mention the inimitable Toy Tiger. all of that aside, it sounds like a great reason to visit Louisville. it's a fun city, but i'll warn you: it can be a bit humid in July.

7:19 may also be a time stamp. Anybody got the DVD? All I've got is divx. Might be worth checking it. I want to buy the DVD but my friend keeps saying they're coming out with a new version (the old DVD has nothing special features-wise, right?) and to wait for it. But they never come out with anything! Never! The Big Lebowski is the best of all movies.

Oh yeah, and even though the movie was already obviously a work of genius by this point, the part where I knew it was exactly the greatest movie ever made was when The Dude is in Jackie Treehorn's office and he pulls the old trick where you rub over the note pad to see what the last thing written on it is, and all it was was a weird naked drawing. OH MAN!
