Have a concern and a fiver? Great news, you can e-mail a prayer to the Pope (or the Vatican). Fortunately, we're assured that any response from the Pope (or the Vatican) will be sent directly to you!

Is this really put on by the vatican?

If so, it's unbelievable-that the Catholic church would be so crass as to charge to talk to the pope. And to lie to people that their email will reach the Pope (because you KNOW he won't be reading these emails!) How pathetic.

If it's not, then it's really sad-because there are a lot of desperate people are going to think they are contacting the pope and they will be getting scammed. I sincerely doubt it's real- as the site only takes US Dollars and web site is a liiiitle unprofessional for what it pretends to be.

Wow. What an awful thing!

aacheson:
Of course this isn't real. Since, as I'm sure you already know, the Vatican has its own TLD and enough money to pay for a tasteful website:
http://www.vatican.va

This is just a scam to make people pay and put them on a spammers mailing list.

No, the Pope's website is at vatican.va but I don't think he has a blog. Years ago, you could phone the Vatican - the full number was listed under international dialling codes. I phoned up and was surprised to be greeted in English, even more surprised when my request to speak to the Pope was treated in a friendly manner ('Do you know what time it is here?' 'Is the Pope in Bed?' 'What do you think?' 'Okay, goodnight.'). I was inspired to do this by a short story in Alan Coren's 'Golfing for Cats' where he phoned many famous people.

What is the pope's email address?

Unfortunately, the pope does not have a public email address.

How do I write to the holy father?

Your letter to the Holy Father should be addressed as follows:

His Holiness John Paul II

Apostolic Palace

00120 Vatican City State, EUROPE
