The World Heritage Tour is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a documentary image bank with panoramic pictures for all of the UNESCO World Heritage sites [warning: frames]. Examples include the tomb of Sety I, discovered in 1817 and permanently closed to the public in 1991 and the baroque churches of the Phillipines. [more inside]

The World Monument Fund, a private non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic art and architecture worldwide, sponsored the Sety I images taken by Tito Dupret. Currently they have 52 sites covered, with over 300 panoramas. Can anyone tell me how these panoramic pictures are made? Another site that is also very good is panoramas.dk, the brainchild of Hans Nyberg, a commercial photographer in Denmark. His most recent offering is the lost city of Petra [warning: fullscreen popup window, and you need Quicktime 5], featured in Indianna Jones and the Last Crusade as the resting place of the holy grail.

Nice to see that the whole of the UK city of Bath is on there, so at least there's one place in the UK to go to that isn't a hellhole.

Fab, thanks. Actually, there are plenty of nice places in the UK ;). I can sincerely recommend Candida Lycett-Green's regular 'Unwrecked England' column in the Oldie. For my money, Much Wenlock is one of the nicest.

I'm very proud that Gammelstad is part of the world heritage, here's a pic of Bagargatan I took a few weeks ago. The place is adorable.
