Turner Worldwide. The Tate's new online Turner project brings together works from over 100 collections, including about 500 previously 'lost' pieces.
why link to an image on ananova's server but not their story itself?
Because I didn't think it said anything that wasn't on the Tate's own page in one way or another...

Good story, though. I wonder which other major artists have a slew of works lost to the wider world which could be 'recovered' in this way.
