It's not exactly the same as being in heaven surrounded by virgins.

Ignatius - Great title tag.

In the spirit of patriotism and thankfulness at their service to our country, I would like to offer free goatee rides to any female members of the service, whether they participated in the war or not.

Just doing my part.

I'm honored to bring Metafilterians of all political stripes together to be crass and talk about whores.

Cripes, I've been doing the men of our military for free for years. Do I have grounds for a lawsuit against these Sleazy-Come-Latelys?

RJR: you could always apply for a job. Citing your previous experience could get your foot in the door to be sure :)

foot in the door

I always figured that servicemen wouldn't be in to the wierd, kinky shit.

Some will, some won't, just like other people. But I suppose knowing you might get blown to bits the next day makes you more likely to say hey, carpe diem.

jonmc, I've got a whole new set of lyrics to God Bless America going on in my head now that you've brought it up in this context.

Good NY link dydecker.

The Bunny Ranch is four miles from my office (in a different county BTW, prostitution is illegal in Nevadas counties with, ahem, "urban" centers) and the source of some small amount of bemusement ... when locals like myself bother to consider it at all. I had not even realized that it was so popular. The notorious Mustang Ranch did the same for our hard-working troops following the Gulf War - actually I think it was operated by the Fed's at that time, too, which is even more amusing. Gotta love Nevada. It must be the only functioning Libertarian state.

ursus - don't tease. Share!!

Heh heh heh. Come now. How hard can it be with lines like:

"Stand beside her and guide her"

You really don't need my help.

"Stand beside her and guide her"

Stand behind her, and grind her...?

Yeah, how dare they offer free access to all their content in return for spending ten seconds of your valuable time clicking through an ad. Bastards. They really suck. Argh.

That's re: salon, of course, not the prostitutes. Hrm.

I think that the day that whores have pop-up ads will be the day that Washington suddenly becomes anti-corporate.

Bonzai - i'll post a witty reply, right after these important messages...

sorry Bonzai, i meant ook. oops. well, you get the idea right?
posted by triv at 2:08 PM on June 18, 2003

I get the idea. Hey, I'd like to live in an ad-free world as much as the next guy -- unless IJR's product placement idea takes off -- but free content is free content, advertising or no. Interstitial ads are annoying, but not as annoying as actually having to dig out a credit card and pay for the thing. Not quite worthy of "passionate hate," I'm saying. Besides, it's not exactly a new development...

Can we get back to the jokes about hookers, now?
