ROU: If it's "Powerhouse" you're looking for, the CD you want is called "Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights, " not "Manhattan Research," which is from a very different era of Scott's career. Also, there are also two CDs of Carl Stalling's music, "The Carl Stalling Project" Vols 1 & 2.

I agree about the anvils, bedhead. Too bad anvils.com went under after it started offering Free Shipping. re: "Powerhouse", Raymond Scott's original recording is the only totally instrumental song I ever heard played on Dr. Demento's radio show. And it actually contained TWO musical themes used in Looney Tunes, the "chase music" and the "industrial/factory theme".

Hey, bedhead - apologize for the egregious mis-use of this thread, but I followed your user page URL and eventually ended up on a page about the Brewery ArtWalk, which is one of my favorite events in Los Angeles; can you email me (address on my user page) and tell me what your association with that artwalk is? Do you own a loft in the artwalk? I've always wanted to talk to one of the artists there but have been too shy. And yet, here, I'm not too shy to derail my own thread to pursue this whimsy. Go figure.

An excellent CD containing "Powerhouse" and a lot of other fun music by Raymont Scott and other composers is Bug Music by Don Byron. Lively performances and excellent recording.

Yep, I'll second kindall's recommendation. Bug Music is a neat disc. (And even the title has an animation connection -- "bug music" being how the Flintstones derisively referred to a certain very popular British musical group of the time.)
