McDonald's New McGriddles® Breakfast Sandwiches! Beginning June 10, 2003, participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide will offer new McGriddles® breakfast sandwiches as permanent menu items. ... then again, it's not that bizarre.

I hate to say it, but the commercial with the kid that goes up in the space rocket is pretty funny. It's still not going to make me eat one of those things. They sound nasty.

why is this a FPP?

Look, if this is a joke, riffing on the pathetic post below it, that's what Metatalk is for. Get with the program, huh?

If it's not a joke, what the hell were you thinking?

It's Pepsi! And it's Blue!

Jeez, this stuff is supposed to be viral, kiddies, not beat-you-over-the-head.

And I had a McGriddle (note that I am defiantly leaving off the "registered copyright symbol", and it was nasty. That is all.

(Actually, it's not all. On preview: what Espoo2 said.)

I tried one of these a month or so. Kind of like a McMuffin soaked in syrup. Whether or not that's appetizing is up to the individual.

why is this a FPP?

And why have the last two FPPs read a great deal like commercials?

I like pancakes. I like sausage. I don't mind if the sausage gets a little syrup on it, but the sausage McGristle I tried yesterday was gross. Nice try, Ronald.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, MATHOWIE, WHERE ARE YOU?!?
If you don't show up soon, I may have to put up a link to the Charmin site with the cartoon bears pooping in the woods and using toilet paper. DON'T MAKE ME DO IT!!!

Metafilter: what the hell were you thinking?

Nice catchphrase, stavrosthewonderchicken.

Welcome back, quonsar. :)

Since this post will be disappearing anyway, I should get this out of my system:

Let me be the first to welcome our new McGriddle overlords.

Hey, did anyone mention Hitler? (Maybe invoking Godwin will help speed this FPP's demise...?)

Damnit!! Al Qaeda strikes again! I thought we were getting this thing under control.

I was torn between ignoring this, and trying to be a smarty pants know-all. Of course, the latter instinct triumphed. So:

Mmm-mmm. Breakfast!

Viral marketing rears it's ugly head at MeFi.

McDonalds is doing all the wrong things and will keep loosing market share. Their core business, burgers, has lost so much respect in the public eye that it's ridiculous. If it was the health or variety aspects that it is claiming, In-N-Out and Five Guys should see drops in sales, but they aren't. "My Way", Big n tasty (although popular), hot dogs, all come to mind. It's going the way of the Gap, except without the drastic turnaround after the departure of Mickey Dressler.

McD: Minimum quality quos last only so long. Then it's so long to the $$.

Hmm, doesn't this product sound rather like the McMuffin we've had here in Europe for over ten years now?

Bring back curly fries!

Good to have you back, Q.

Also, what this site needs is more ads. Is there a way we can have pop-up threads promoting stuff?

Sure, insomnyuk, leave the Charmin for the bears...
This is not viral marketing, it's retro-viral marketing.
And these two threads are getting more comments than IraqFilter posts... BTW, I think I just saw Saddam eating a McGriddle... sausage, not bacon.

(Note to self: Get a Life.)

I had a Sausage McGriddle a few weeks ago. It tasted like a sausage patty between two PANCAKES. Seriously.

Bring back curly fries!

They can't bring back something they've never had. At least, here in the States, I've never seen curly fries at a McDonald's. They seem to be solely the province of Arby's. Wendy's did try "waffle fries" for a while, though; they had the same seasoning.

I tried a McGriddle. I actually kind of liked it. In retrospect I probably should have got one with sausage instead of bacon, and disassembled it and eaten the different parts separately instead of eating it all together. Of course that kind of defeats the point of it being a breakfast sandwich.

Am I the only person who *likes* these?

I think Austin is/was a test market - the local McD's have had them for at *least* two months now.

Unfortunately, since I'm a McFatty, tomorrow I go on McDiet, maybe even McAtkins. Time to get some McExercise as well, since work provides a free gym.

Haven't tried a McGriddle yet, but the nutrition info is WAY out there. If you're health-conscious at all, stay away from McDonald's in general, i suppose.

On a side note, anyone here tired of Hardee's with their 'back to basics' campaign? I saw a Hardee's commercial tonight and what I remember was the guy on there saying "that was the only way i could get enough meat." Where was the focus group on that one?
