Well what do ya know... This is my site, and I swear I didn't pay pizzasub to link it.
If you guys have any digital cameras that aren't listed already, please let me know the default filename structure so that I can add it in, and we can find even more odd pictures!
scarabic - the way I see it, if you place something openly on the web, then you should have no problem with random people looking at it. If you rename your photo, it will still be visible, just not so easily to find it in a targeted way. posted by Diddly at 11:47 AM on August 6, 2003
I think it's sad that there are no images named dcp000.jpg. posted by iconomy at 11:49 AM on August 6, 2003

You didn't? Then the check I got in the mail was from some *other* Diddly? Shit. posted by pizzasub at 11:49 AM on August 6, 2003

Funny how digital cameras are creating their own web, without their "owners" realizing it. posted by tommasz at 11:53 AM on August 6, 2003
To kick this concept up a notch, apply the same concept to Kazaa's image search option. There is a far higher possibility of getting pictures someone inadvertently shared, since you're tapping right into people's hard drives. (Doing a document search for "taxes" has yielded similarly interesting results for me in the past, at least when Kazaa was first released).

Kinda makes the angst arising from the realisation that something you've *said* could be preserved for posterity in google's cache seem somewhat passe ... posted by carter at 1:05 PM on August 6, 2003
Does it shock anyone that results for quonsar are NSFW?
Dammit, was going to tease him with a pic of Bush that was a result, yet it took me to his site. posted by thomcatspike at 1:06 PM on August 6, 2003

This is my favorite link this year. This stuff is better than Found Magazine...

Civil_Disobedient, look at the Star Wars Kid's brother link that fletchmuy linked to above... Coincidence? posted by widdershins at 2:33 PM on August 6, 2003
Search for "MVI" in a Kazaa video search. That's the standard naming format for the short .avi's that Canon digital cameras take. If you're lucky, you'll find everything from dogs, to pool parties, to drunken frat parties, to *ahem* more personal matters. posted by Newbornstranger at 2:39 PM on August 6, 2003
wow... I'd forgotten about this,... I ran across your site about a year ago, diddly, and meant to post it, but never got around to it, and forgot all about it... Good stuff. posted by Espoo2 at 2:58 PM on August 6, 2003
This guy has way too much server space. A great example of why digital cameras are evil.

I love this stuff. I use Google's advanced image search (set to show only wallpaper-sized images) every time I make a new mix CD cover. It's a great way to get random inspiration because it often juxtaposes radically disparate images. Great thread, pizzasub. posted by squirrel at 3:47 PM on August 6, 2003
Just think kids. If it weren't for the internet some people may never get to see this. posted by i_cola at 4:11 PM on August 6, 2003
I was resisting the urge to post, but this [NSFW] was just too good. Entire series here. [Huge Page] posted by TurkishGolds at 4:34 PM on August 6, 2003

If you'd like to see/use the source code, it's here. It's pretty clunky stuff, but I'm a lover, not a coder. posted by dogwelder at 8:08 AM on August 7, 2003
