Ok, you may find symbols to be peurile, empty and futile. Lawyers don't, politicians don't, broadcasters don't. Can a flash movement like this have any real effect though? Can a groundswell for commonsense save a sarcastic sumbitch like Al Franken? [He's a virtual unknown over here, but some of us have followed the case from afar... over there in the Land Of The Free(c).]

Symbols mean things, words are valuable, and that's why they shouldn't be suffocated by spurious property claims and frivolous lawsuits. Let's see. Do they have a case about copyright? Almost certainly not: you can't copyright just three words. Trademark, then? They'd have to convince a judge that people are actually going to be confused, and think that Franken's book is really put out by Fox News. Uh-huh.

So apparently today is "Fair And Balanced day on the Internet", "National Relaxation Day" (in the UK) and "Failure Day" (no idea national or worldwide). If no-one else can see why this is humourous, I'll be sat in the corner complaining about the youth of today. ;)
