Great find plep. I am always interested in seeing early photos of native peoples. I particularly liked this discussion on the influence by the subject and by the photographer. It goes a bit to a discussion that went on in your thread on native portraits by Edward Curtis which talked about romanticized images.

Here's another collection of native images that kirkaracha posted. Both the former posts have interesting in-thread links.
