Not being very artistic if I tried this and made anything remotely artistic, my luck it would crumble to pieces. Barely able to crack an egg w/o having shell in my egg. Must take more than just skill and patience, a gentle hand. As the egg becomes closer to being finished, the risk of breakage becomes greater and the work slower and more careful. Some of the filigree work requires a very gentle touch, with breakage running as high as 50% for some of the really delicate designs.

Jonson - my mum decorates eggs - you make a tiny hole at each end, and blow the bejeesus out of the egg till all the crap comes out. It usually makes a disconcerting fartlike noise. There are some pumping tools you can buy but they make too big a hole. After that you have to soak them in vinegar and wash them out several times. On the whole it is a mind numbingly boring process.
