DeanLink is a new service from the Dean Campaign. Dean + Friendster = DeanLink. The tech savvy presidential campaign strikes again. What's next? DeanTorrent? Where do you think all this technology will go after the campaign is over?

[Disclosure: Yes, I've commented on Dean myself in the past.] In all fairness, most of the Dean-related posts have been pretty interesting, and have definitely highlighted some new use of technologies within the political context. We have a blogging, Internet-driven, organic political campaign that just added a Friendster-like service. That's pretty interesting to me, and especially interesting in the context of MetaFilter. Some of what we're seeing is the next iteration of the infrastructure demonstrated during the prewar Moveon/ANSWER protests. This is new stuff, and it's a very good demonstration of some of the realworld revolutions possible via the Internet. Let's cut the poster some slack here.

Is it impossible to accept that sometimes political shit is just interesting? I'm not likely to vote for Dean in the primaries, but I am overwhelmed by the lasting impact that his campaign will have on American politics. If you don't see that, I understand what world you live in.

Ig: Yes, the technology angle is cool and interesting. Great stuff, no doubt. It's just that I ALSO find it interesting to see up close how terribly white Dean's "groundswell" of support is, that's all.
