Slim Dusty - Australian country music icon - passes on. You know him - "There's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear, than to stand in the bar of the pub with no beer."

I heard Slim Dusty's "pub with no beer" once while I was travelling in the bush. It's the saddest song I ever heard.
R.I.P. Slim.

Our little record store shifted his entire stock this morning alone, like a pub with no beer we're a suburban record store with no Slim!

Criminal.

Did the same thing happen with Johnny Cash the week before?

Graham, i think downloaders more than record stores saw the impact of Cash's death...box sets probably sold well at stores tho.

It's interesting how popular country music based on our form of it is, in Australia (and England too)...i guess it's just like other genres we've exported...did this guy make it Australian-specific at all, or was it just like ours?
