Who'dda thunk it? We interrupt our usual story about how badly the Cubs suck to say that the Cubs just made the playoffs this year. Will long-suffering Cubs fans be vindicated? Is this the end of the billy-goat curse? Bonus: link to audio of Harry Caray yelling "cubs win!"

As a Sox fan, let me be the first to say that the Cubs will fail spectacularly in the playoffs. If by Sox you mean the Red Sox and them potentially making it to the World Series to face the Cubs, I'll have to predict that the world will actually come to an end before such a series. (The ground opened up in response to the A's getting that far, so don't think it can't happen) Sox... Sox... I remember hearing about another baseball team with that name but .. n'aah, must have just been dreaming or something. Go Cubs!

Actually, Who'd a-thunk it--or, alternately, Who'd 'a thunk it or, even Google's workable if inelegant first choice, Who'da thunk it, if you must--are the preferred spellings, I believe. That double d is just wrong.

God, the Red Sox and the Cubs would be one of the best matchups since neither have one a series since last century's teens (the 'aughts for the Cubs). Not to mention a series featuring both Fenway and Wrigley would be simply amazing.

WOOOO!!!!!!! Go Cubs! : ) I admit I was very, very nervous when I heard the Cubs had to play a doubleheader today. It is awfully hard to sweep a doubleheader and that is what they needed to do. But they did it! Now bring on those Braves!

Some enterprising Cubs fans took pains to visit the curse upon the Astros. We can't really say if it's worked or not until we know if the Cubbies have won the pennant or not (at least). I'm also rooting for a Cubbies vs. BoSox series. This may be the year for cursed teams to rise up. The Hanshin Tigers have made it to the Japan Series after suffering for a long time under the Curse of Col. Sanders. If their curse has been lifted, why not the Billy Goat's and Bambino's? Go Cubs!

Unbelievable, that's all I can say. MLB.tv on MLB.com has allowed me to follow all the Cubs game here in Iceland. This means that I will be staying up until 3 in the morning over the next days (hopefully weeks) to watch my beloved Cubbies (the games start at 11PM), but I hope it'll be worth it. The win sets up the rotation pretty nicely with Kerry starting the first game. Hopefully Carlos Zambrano can recover from his last two outings.

moz almost drove off the road when we heard the end of the second game :D during the first game, anytime anything good happened, you could hear people all over our building yelling in glee. certainly a far cry from the albuquerque isotopes, i can tell you that much.

If by that, sugarfish, you mean that you expect the Cubs to fare better then the Topes, perhaps you should read up on the Cubs history of playoff visits. Gotta say the best thing about Isotopes stadium is that I can see it from my office window, and it smells MUCH better then Wrigley Field. I also want the Cubbies to reward their long-suffering fans, if for no other reason then pure irony.
