Jesus, that's a long day. But that would kick serious ass. Although I don't think a 38 week pregnant woman would do very well in 3, 3 hour movies in a row! Maybe it's not for me at this time. :(

It's tempting, but I'd rather wait until all three of them are available on DVD, so I

won't feel cramped in that fiendishly annoying stadium seating,

won't have to tolerate noisy kids scampering about,

can do the marathon on my schedule,

can hit the pause button at my leisure, and

won't need to invest in Depends.

I wonder if the Sony Metreon will let participants sleep in their seats and or else have Starbucks (which is downstairs from the theater) stay open so we can drive home awake.

Depends are for dirty people. You need a Stadium Pal. I went to the double screening they did last year here when the second installment came out. We were at the theater for about eight hours, but it was okay, because they serve beer. It looks like they're doing it at a nasty megaplex here this time, though, so I don't know - although, the audience that goes to these sorts of things is one of the best parts, for me, screaming kids or no. Ya big grump.

Trust me it's not as fun as you might think. I attended one only two back to back showings of the first two movies on Two Tower's release. I had only seen the first one twice both times in the theater, so it'd been a while. Being at the Draft House made it very enjoyable, but after 6 hours of hobbits I thought my ass was going to fall off.

Wow....it will be great to see the extended versions on the big screen....btw, I called SF Sony Metreon, and though the site says tickets for the marathon showing go on sale Oct 9, Metreon says they won't sell theirs that early--they'll probably wait until just a few days before the showings. I sat through a cinema marathon of Star Wars once, and that wasn't so bad; hopefully they'll have some decent intermissions.

Saw 'Finding Nemo', 'Bright Young Things', 'Underworld' and the IMAX presentation of 'The Matrix Reloaded' today. In the cinema for about ten hours (which is about as long as the triple bill proposed) and it wasn't so bad with all the breaks. I cinema in Liverpool once showed Star Treks 1-7 in one day starting at nine in the morning. Wierdly decided against that one.

I had heard something about this previously, and after asking my man if he would go with me ... and receiving "that look" that basically said "no way in hell", I rationalized that it would probably be at a theater all the way across town, so I wouldn't go alone. Too much hassle, and promptly forgot about it. But no ... someone had to remind me, and now I see that it's a mere 3.8 miles from the house we just bought last month. Now I want to go dammit! Still ... that's an awful long time to be sitting in a theater for someone has hyperactive as I am. Maybe I can be patient and wait for the DVDs for my marathon session. Maybe ...

CA, Hollywood Arclight 15 Cinema=Cinerama Dome ... just a quick 15 min. from my house ... the perfect place to see hobbits. always loved that theater. it was the perfect place to see 2001: a space odyssey (the first time around), 1973, stoned and comfortably numb.

Damn NYC. There is no excuse for not having a theatre with booze provided. And definately no excuse for only 1 theatre with this offered. I mean really. Still, I'm thinking all 3 might be overboard, since I've watched the extended of fellowship a couple of times, using a projector at home, and the effect is pretty much the same as big screen. TTT, though, I'm more than anxious to see that in the big theatre, especially since the projector is now dust. man-o-man-o-man-o-man...
