Clinton Grand Jury Probe What a convenient day for the Republicans to leak this. When wil they learn? What will it take?

I don't like Clinton but for God's sake, can't we just let this die?

Are we sure this is the *Republican's* doing...?

During his "Impeachment Trial" most of America thought: "Hey, he's a hell of a good president...leave him alone!!!"

And his popularity and approval rating went through the roof. (Hell, I'm a registered Republican, and I voted for Clinton...TWICE)

This will only help Gore...

It is easy to blame the Republicans, but let's put the blame where it belongs - if President Clinton had kept it in his pants, none of this would be an issue.

And THAT is not the fault of the Republican party.

Ah. Then it wasn't the "illegality" after all, it was the sex? :)

I have yet to see anything indicating that there wasn't consent among all parties concerned about the sex. That includes Hillary, whom Bill wouldn't make any move like that without her permission.

I really wanted a press conference, early on, where all three of them appeared, and told the country, "If we handle it, so can you. Good night."

Instead, the Clintons took the cowardly way out, and told people what they thought they wanted to hear. And we see where that got them. Hypocrisy begat hypocrisy, and the long slide ensued...

Pursuing a case that a DA from Ames, Iowa would have regarded as unwinnable, especially since it was known who the jury would be.... That was the Republicans' fault... {shrug}

Actually, today's leak notwithstanding, lately the reality is that the Democrats bring up Monica more than Republicans. (I'm talking about elected officials here). It's actually pretty smart: by and large the nation doesn't care about Clinton's sex life. Much more troubling are the allegations that access to his office was controlled by the almighty dollar, or that he used the US military to cover up his indescretion (that Sudan bombing looks more and more suspect). However, the seeds are being planted that Clinton's record was virtually blemish free EXCEPT for some dirty sex... that people are willing to forgive. Most house Republicans caught on pretty quick that selling the Monica scandal wasn't going to win votes, what they didn't count on was that it can now be used by savvy Dems as Clinton's humanizing, minor flaw, a protection against attacks on his overall record. And, if someone ever calls them on it, they can just say it's the Republicans who brought the whole thing to the public anyway. Brilliant...

The thing that continues to piss me off about POLITICS in general, regardless of party affiliation, is that it isn't about helping people, the country, but about hurting the other side.

As chaz noted, and reported on the Today show this morning, it has been rumored that the White House leaked the information. Whether this is true or not is irrelavant to me, but the thought that the Dems would do this to make the Reps look bad is Machiavellian.

The whole political process in our country reminds me of a playground, name-calling battle. It's so childish, and we, the country, lap it up like manna from heaven. What does this say to our children?

I will now get of my high-horse and unsaddle it for the rest of the day. I promise.

Unfortunately I think a lot of politicians have deluded themselves into believing that they are helping the people when they attack the "other side" if only because they are trying to enlighten the world to the evil motivations and intent of the opposing party. What's really sad is that both sides are right about that part.

and that's not brilliant - that's transparent.

So it was actually a Jimmy Carter appointed judge who leaked it. So I guess it wasn't them evil Republicans who leaked it after all...
