The Mother's Maiden Name Project would only be useful if someone else starts organizing blogs by credit card number.

I only bother to list myself geographically -- all those other cliques I've abandoned ever since linksluts went down. There were too many linksluts-sluts after that.

Bah! I was poking fun at the ageless project and old bloggers when you were still sucking your mother's teat!

Kids today, no sense of history.

Hey, this could come in handy for those of us out there looking -- now, if they could also sort by sexual preference and general availability . . . .

And the Minimouse that Matt links to in that post is now here. Long may she blog.

The Ageless Project wouldn't accept me when I asked ages ago (and didn't know I was being a linkslut, heh) because I didn't want my real name posted and just wanted to use an alias. Different rules now I think.

Janet, don't you mean sexual preference, general availability and scale of 1 to 10? I mean I'm like a straight divorced 2. You gotta add that third one or you'll end up dating people like me who belong outside the gene pool.

Has anyone ever thought to organize blogs in ways like quality of posts, level of interest, or things like that? Granted, one man's trash is another's treasure and all that, but I learned over five years ago that listing personal narrative sites by arbitrary things like geography or age or gender is about as useful as a tatoo on the ball of your foot.

so anyone of any age can be a blogger... yay possible ageist stereotypes averted! now let's categorize these bloggers by age. uhm, huh? ever so slightly self defeating project.

So, does anyone else think this is just a data mining trick? Or more to the point, even if it isn't, why put that type of info out there on the web in one more readily accessible place?

I think you'd have to be crazy to sign onto this thing.

well, call me crazy--i think it's interesting...i just got my confirmation email (all they have is my bday, first name and email and blog url)

I'm going to be between this person, born November 16, 1964 (political stuff), and this person, born December 25, 1964 (life stuff). : >

So, does anyone else think this is just a data mining trick

Not that I'm aware of, and I've been listed since Nov '01. I gave 'em a unique email address (the last best reason to have your own domain), and it's never been used by anyone except them. If they're mining data, they're doing a rotten job of it.

Besides which, it's run by jennet. This jennet.

today (October 21st) is chumptastic's birthday! happy birthday!

despite not being listed in the Ageless Project, I'd normally say that we should all visit his blog in honour of his birthday... but it looks like the power outage in his town has killed his server before we could use up all his bandwidth.

oh, cool... asparagirl and i have the same birthdate. weeee!

i'd find a site like this really useful if it sorted them by the age of the blog. i like reading people's super-old-school archives and observing the evolution of their personalities and writing styles. there are so many new blogs that it's hard to find older ones these days.
