Gator maintains that its software differs from spyware in that people are clearly notified before they download it, and in that they do so in exchange for a service, like the peer-to-peer software. Spyware, the company maintains, is surreptitiously installed and gives the unwitting computer user no benefit. Gah, this is like those spammers that insist that they're not sending you spam because it has a "remove from list" link. Gator is obviously Spyware, it's one of the cornerstones of spyware as a matter of fact. The fact that they loudly complain and litigate that they're not will not change that fact. Gator is Spyware.

Take poor Matt to court over removing this thread. We will band together and pay for the fucking lawyer and in the process make 10 pages dedicated to how much Gator is spyware.

....and in other news, gator is spyware program that maintains itself in your computers memory when Microsoft Windows loads. It gathers web browsing statistics and sends them to its servers, yet it does not explain exactly what the company does with that information.
