[this is good]
Bosch-Breughel-Dali-esque or just trippy fun?
Definitely trippy fun. Yes, there nods to Hieronymus Bosch and Breughel. Didn't see much connection with Dali. I think Yerka's major debt is to Magritte, though.

Wonderful and definitely trippy. Maybe he paints in a similar style as Breughel, but not the content. Definitely influenced by his landscape of fields and castles and deep pools. Damn their cool looking.
Initially it reminded me a bit of Roger Dean and his mindscapes on old Yes albums. posted by alicesshoe at 9:40 PM on October 27, 2003

(funny you should mention that about Dean, I always thought of Frank Gehry's famous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao as a sort of Yes album cover come to life.)
This is good, by the way. Although I get a bit of a sense of deja vu looking at some of this stuff. Has Yerka perhaps done some famous illustrations or something? posted by arto at 10:40 PM on October 27, 2003

...trippy...
Yeah, I like the way even a combination of mundane elements (huts/antennas/car) becomes trippy and feel a little profound...

This is wonderful - I managed to get through to yerkaland, though, sadly, the thumbnails from the bottom menu in the gallery didn't click through to larger images for me.
This is my introduction to Jacek Yerka, and I love his work. I wonder if it's disrespectful (to the man as a serious artist) to say that if he illustrated an adventure game I would be all over that in an instant...
