Holy crap! I could look at it all day. I went antique shopping one day and found tonnes of cards like these. There's also a book out there that features the most bland post cards of the 20th century... some really great stuff of horribly thought out photos.

Crunch, I think he's comparing a number of them to the classic Holiday Inn sign -- noting where the motels have, erm, paid homage to that familiar logo.
